An exhibition at the ZKM | Museum of Contemporary Art

Supplemental to the first part of the exhibition “Collectors’ Choice,” which is already showing works from the Boros, Grässlin, and Landesbank Baden-Württemberg collections on the third floor of the Museum, beginning in August, presented on the second floor will be works from the FER, VAF, and Weishaupt collections; thus all collections that work in cooperation with the ZKM | Museum of Contemporary Art will be represented with numerous works.
Whereas the focus in the first part of the exhibition is on art that was created in Germany, and art that is dedicated to specific German themes and events from the past and present, the current expansion of the exhibition on the third floor of the museum shows a small art-historical retrospective and overview of, among others, Conceptual art, Op Art, Kinetics, and Pop and Abstract Art of the 1960s and 1970s. Exhibited here, among others, are works by Mark Rothko, On Kawara, Andy Warhol, Hanne Darboven, and Bruno Munari. Works by Markus Oehlen and Walter Dahn stand exemplarily for works of so-called “wild painting” and finally, the arc is drawn to the present with a series of contemporary works from the three private collections that extends from figurative painting, to conceptual approaches, through to video art, thus demonstrating the complexity of interests of the collectors at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Shown here are, for example, works by Davide La Rocca, Matthieu Mercier, Vinvent Szarek, Isabell Heimerdinger, and Chiara Dynys.
In conjunction with the ten-year anniversary of the ZKM | Museum of Contemporary Art, the entire house will present itself successively over the course of the second half of the year as a museum dedicated exclusively to the cooperating collections.

Curated by Gregor Jansen and Andreas Beitin with the FER, Siegfried Weishaupt, and Volker Feierabend collections
