Constant Dullaart,
The 10.000 euro show

Opening times
9 juni - 2 July 2006
open Thursday t/m Sunday
16:00 - 02:00
Every Friday a new opening

Interests and work styles of artists can overlap, and artists often recognise their own fascinations in the work of other artists. Subsidised art culture in the Netherlands is mainly focussed on differences between artists, and what makes the artist or institution unique.
This exhibition will focus on the possibilities and importance of synergy between artists.
Artists need colleague’s, not only to research a certain subject, but also to learn from each others mistakes. For this, a fear of similarities can work counter productive.
In each of the 4 weekends grouped works will be added to the exhibition, works that may or may not have an obvious connection. A similar interest, style, or technique will bond the works opening in the same weekend. Each new weekend will add another layer to the context the show can provide for the works.
The first weekend Peter Vink will show a new work for which he removed the ceiling of the canteen of the W139 in the Post CS building. Gijs Mьller will show a new version of his work “Boombox Blowjob”. The similarities between these works will mainly be found in the clearly conceptual character of the works and in visual style.
More participating artists will be revealed on http://w139.blogspot.com and the email list of the W139.
The second weekend will mainly focus on artists that work with repetitiveness and emptiness. What techniques are used to differentiate the one esthetical empty image from the other. Works on show by Katja Mater, Ester Kempf and newly collected works of PARK4DTV. More participating artists will be revealed on http://w139.blogspot.com and the email list of the W139.
The third weekend will be about using modern techniques in art and how the artist tries to use imperfection to show effort, or a signature style. Including works of the artists Harm van den Dorpel and Deponk. More participating artists will be revealed on http://w139.blogspot.com and the email list of the W139.
In the fourth weekend works will be shown that are made during the running time of the exhibition, and of artists from different disciplines working together. Included will be works by Anne de Vries, and Melanie Bonajo working together with Kim Hiortшy.
More participating artists will be revealed on http://w139.blogspot.com and the email list of the W139.
The exhibition will be closed off by an anonymous art auction, organised by dead darlings, where the names of the participating artist will be known, but not which work at auction is theirs.
Each of the weekend’s films will be shown and lectures will be given around the theme of the particular weekend. More information about the films and lectures will be revealed on http://w139.blogspot.com and the email list of the W139.
This web-log will run during the show, as a communication device between the artists (and of course the viewers) to share references
