RADICALLY MINE!
Talented students show their work in the Van Abbe
20 April - 14 May 2017

Following seven successful editions, this year eleven secondary schools - a total of more than 250 students - participate in the project Radically Mine! Inspired by the collection of the Van Abbemuseum, the students have created their own artwork. A selection will be exhibited in the museum on the second floor of the Collection Building. They become part of the collection presentation and will give you a new entrance to access the collection.

PUT IN YOUR VOTE FOR THE PUBLIC AWARD!
This year you can vote for a public award. The winning student is invited to show his or her werk during the next Young Art Night at the museum and will receive a Young Art Crowd membership - the latest generation of friends of the museum. You can vote from April 20 via
rm17.vanabbe.nl

INSPIRE NOT COPY
Over 250 students of the (pre) graduation classes of secondary schools dived into the collection of the Van Abbemuseum. They each chose three artworks which, together with a personal story, are the starting point of their own artwork. The collection works are there to inspire the young creatives; don't copy a Mondrian or Picassao, but use them as inspiraton for new and refreshing works.

In the exhibition you will see a mix of works from all students - from different school levels - since creativity goes beyond the students' level of education.

PAINTING WITH LIGHT
For the first time, students with visual impairments participated in the project. Bartimeus in Zeist and Konkinklijke Visio in Grave are two educational institutions which joined forces with local secondary schools. During a photography workshop ‘Painting with light’, the blind, visually impaired and sighted all worked in the same way. In the dark, the students cooperated to create an image by shining a light on various objects and on themselves. This cooperation not only delivered strong works and unusual stories, but also new friendships.

OPENING
De official opening of the Radically Mine! exhibition is on Thursday 20 April at 17.00.
There will be a catalogue related to the exhibition, which is on sale via the Museum shop for 3,50.

TALENT DEVELOPMENT
For this edition the Van Abbemuseum and Kunstbende Noord-Brabant will cooperate to help these youngsters to further develop their talents. All participant in the exhibition automatically compete for a ticket to the Kunstbende finale in Brabant. The Kunstbende jury will choose five finalist who will participate in the regional finale in the Effenaar on 30 April, with a chance of competing in the national finale. The winner the regional finale will in any case be presenting his or her work in the museum during the next Young Art Night.

Kunstbende, is the national competition for young creative talent. The nominees will be announced during the opening of the Radically Mine! - Live exposition on Thursday 20 April in the Van Abbemuseum.
