The John Moores Prize is one of England's most prestigious painting awards. Past recipients include Peter Doigt, David Hockney and Richard Hamilton. Peter McDonald received the prize for his work "Fontana," which depicts Lucio Fontana sticking a knife blade into a canvas, rendered in his inimitable choice of colors and forms. The work was declared "a representation of our thoughts rendered in a form hitherto unexplored, and hints at future directions for contemporary painting in England." The jury members were Jake and Dinos Chapman, Paul Morrison, Graham Crawley and critic Sasha Craddock.
This exhibition features McDonald's new paintings and prints produced in Japan.
