MOGADISHNI IS PLEASED TO PRESE...

MOGADISHNI is pleased to present the exhibition ”Fabricated Garden”
by Randi Jørgensen and Katrine Malinovsky.

This is the first solo exhibition by the Danish duo after their recent graduation from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.

In the exhibition ” Fabricated Garden” the artists have created a large scale installation which directly relates to the gallery space and its particular context being situated in an old factory. The installation is built next to the storage room in the gallery and the limits between the beginning and the ending of the installation is blurred.

Inspiration comes from the Baroque garden with its labyrinths, geometrical shapes and different optic axes with an ability to give both a spatial and emotional experience to the viewer in the staged scenery. ” Fabricated Garden” also has the feel of the amusement park with its lighting and use of artificial materials such as green foam rubber. Trees grow in the gallery and they rise and fall like mechanical devices whenever there’s people in the space. This gives the installation an interactive character and the viewer is given the opportunity to see the space in a new way.

The works by Randi Jшrgensen and Katrine Malinovsky is a result of their common interest in a combination of architecture, objects and narrations and a fascination of the large scale installation where a dynamic exchange with the viewer and a specific space is important.

“Fabricated Garden” is both a garden and a piece of architecture, a landscape and a “walkscape”, a romantic scenery and an artificial fabrication...
