The Belgian artist Hans Op de Beeck (*1969 in Turnhout) works in nearly every artistic medium from large scale installation to sculpture, photography, aquarelle and drawing up to music, text and animation. Thereby he often touches universal themes like the relation between time and space, melancholy and the absurdity of human existence.

For the black-and-white animation "Night Time" (2014), that is presented at Nassauischer Kunstverein Wiesbaden, the artist used aquarelles on which he has worked for six years, mostly at night. In silent, cautios and enigmatic pictures Op de Beeck shows a journey through urban settings, surreal situations and nighttime surroundings, which are sometimes populated by mysterious figures. Some of the images are reminiscent of cinematic "establishing shots", others show "close ups" of requisites and parts of bodies. In a timeless visual language Op de Beeck captures places between fiction and reality as well as between movement and stagnation.
