A Visual Poet Rewrites the World of Signs

Any number of artists have depicted the readable world. But Ferdinand Kriwet has described it - with all that that means. He has taken us into the urban world of signs. But above all he has written his own signs in and on the world, in the funniest and most intelligent way. His stickers, posters and neon signs seduce and proclaim, to the flow of his signals and screams of his signboards.

With the help of national funds, Museum Ludwig has been able to acquire Kriwet's lesebögen (1960). These visual poems, composed on a typewriter, laid the foundation for much that later appeared on Kriwet's buttons, on his records and in his films - which can also be seen at the exhibition.
