From the series Lycopodium

Swiss artist Raphael Hefti is concerned with the interplay of material and process. He often pushes a process, whether it is manual or industrial to a point where technically it would be deemed a failure. His practice of creating extreme effects renders a palpable and exciting tension between the sublime and the hazardous.
For Test Run Hefti presents the Lycopodium photogram series are made in a pitch black underground storage facility, Hefti exposes the image by coating photo-sensitive paper with spores of highly flammable 'Witches Moss' or Lycopodium, and setting light to them. Lycopodium is a plant with historical links to both early photography and the occult.
