The show presented at MAMbo, titled Arte Povera 1968 and curated by Germano Celant and Gianfranco Maraniello takes its cue from one of the first Arte Povera exhibitions, held in Bologna in February, 1968, in Galleria de’ Foscherari and offers its own specific reading of the origins of Arte Povera, and of its ties to historic and present publishing projects.
The exhibition includes works presented at the groundbreaking 1968 exhibition, as well as other pieces witnessing to Arte povera artists’ activity at the time. This selection is integrated by a wide array of materials – catalogs, artist’s books, posters, invitations and documents – curated by Giorgio Maffei and Corraini Edizioni, dating back to the early 1960s and shedding light on the movement and its linguistic research.
