Kunsthalle Basel

Since 1996, Kunsthalle Basel’s exterior rear wall has activated public space with contemporary art through a series of solo presentations. In 2026, Kunsthalle Basel invites the Barcelona-based art space Cordova to curate the Back Wall Project by Samuel Guerrero (b. 1997). Guerrero’s practice connects nature, technology, and perception. Using wood, concrete, light, and sound, he creates installations in which organic processes and machine control interlock. Drawing on Mesoamerican systems of timekeeping and observation, he investigates time as a social and political structure, making it palpable in the urban realm through light-and-shadow phenomena.
