THROUGH THE THINGS WE MAKE

Introduction

For this spring's major exhibition Göteborgs Konsthall has invited the artist duo Åsa Norberg and Jennie Sundén. The exhibition Through the Things We Make create Sundén Norberg and works together touching upon questions of artistic work, aesthetics and form co-creator of life and social change. In his oeuvre explores the boundaries between private and public, art and crafts, as well as the practical and intellectual work.

In Through the Things We Make and Sundén Norberg has worked further on the theme of home and its objects and materials found there. As the title suggests, appear either as mirror images of various eras, aesthetic ideals and social and political attitudes.

Norberg and Sundén also work with the arts and often allow arts and crafts blend together. They are among others engaged in the visibility and highlighting pioneer in the women's movement and pioneers in education. In Norberg and Sundéns art meets therefore the viewer is often different layers of time and history come together and interact with each other.

In his work for Norberg and Sundén a dialogue with contemporary as well as contemporary artists, both in their own artistic projects but also in their various art intermediary roles. Through the Things We Make is a combined exhibition and group exhibition in which Norberg and Sundén has invited seven artists Ruth Buchanan, Falke Pisano, Shana Moulton, Agnieszka Polska, Lucy McKenzie, Richard Kern and Laure Prouvost to participate in the exhibition rooms along with them. The invited artists have all previously been presented in the art room Hit, a combined artist studio and exhibition space, which Sundén Norberg and operates since 2007 in Gothenburg.

Biography

Asa Norberg and Jennie Sundén (born 1977) lives and works in Gothenburg. They got to know each other while studying at the Art Academy in Umeå in 2005 and have worked closely together since. They have previously participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions at Marabou Park Art Gallery, Dalslands Art Museum, Image Museum, Bonniers Konsthall, Tensta Konsthall and Skåne Art. Norberg and Sundén has been awarded the City of Gothenburg's cultural and a tvåårigtarbetsstipendium of the Arts. Since 2007 they run the curatorial project here.
