I know things thanks to my PC’s optical mouse, by way of my web browser, then my 3.0 search engine.
My phone is smart, the origin and quality of my steak are guaranteed, my book is digital, my shampoo is two-in-one, my car is hybrid, my armpit hair is removed by laser, my film is HD-ready, my soup is organic, my bottle of water is vitaminized.
These things may be new or secondhand.
The words describing them are slowly replacing their principal object,
And their interface is often more elaborate than the things it popularizes.
Through these additions, whether a function changes or remains the same, the value increases.
Representing these things which have been deliberately made more complex, so that they can no longer be reduced to a name, becomes all the more difficult because, in belonging to this society, these rules also apply to us.
While the main activity of the albeit smart phone is to telephone;
Fondation d’entreprise Ricard is presenting Artists coming from the Paris School of Fine Arts.
This is their shared qualification.
Their activities are varied.
In this exhibition, pieces show, deform and approach different objects; they do this without ever reducing them.
What is sometimes involved is simply representing a simple object; at others, finding complexity in this simple thing; also finding that this added complexity is no less simple and that adding layers becomes just as natural as revealing them. What may also be involved is fighting to find what really lies beneath this at once simple and complex thing. In any event, the added, the transformed and the formal or conceptual history of these forms has been digested and re-arranged.
So, though evident, the pieces in the exhibition are defined in their approximation, with no need to be qualified, and this is where they obtain their value.
There are three spaces, each one with six Artists."
