Views of the room
Isabelle Cornaro (*1974, FR): VIEWS OF THE ROOM
Video- und Diaprojektion

Opening 9. September, 11 till 21 Uhr

Brunch with artist talk, 10. September, 12 O' Clock

Isabelle Cornaro's take is dealing with layers and interpretations. For the first time she will be showing her slide projection "The birth of stage fright": 122 photographs of accurately the same part of a garden are fading in and out every two seconds, alluding to a film with bushes and hedges as an organic movement of a transformation.
This piece will be projected and filmed at the same time in D21. First the piece itself, consisting of two slides projectors will be installed with a screen in the centre of our large gallery. This will be filmed and screened on our "green wall of tiles". This will then be filmed and re- filmed again and again. The resulting movie will be screened on a second (white) wall, accompanied by the distorted sound of the slide projection from the original "The birth of stage fright". Together the piece is titled "Views of the room". It plays with the site sensitivity of the production, but also, in a remote sense, on A room of one ́s own. Mostly the title refers to the "stream-of-consciousness" inspiration to this piece, but also the need of independence. This work deals with several aspects of artistic production, strongly blurring the idea of reproduction of reality.
