Christoph Ruckhäberle "Portraits"
10 January - 28 February 2009

I am delighted to invite you to the grand opening of our new gallery space on January 10, 2009 featuring a solo exhibition by Christoph Ruckhäberle.

The portraits of Ruckhäberle play an important role in his artistic practice and have developed further in the due course of recent years. The show comprises a selection from his recent series of portraits, shown for the first time during Manifesta7 – The European Biennial for Contemporary Art in Trento - in 2008 and travelling on to Migros Museum in Zurich in summer 2009.

On the occasion of the exhibition in Berlin, an artist book comprehensively documenting the portrait within Christoph Ruckhäberle's work will be published.

Christoph Ruckhäberle, born 1972 in Pfaffenhofen, studied at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig with Prof. Arno Rink. His works have been exhibited at numerous national and international venues including Mass MOCA, North Adams, Hypo Kunsthalle, Munich, Cleveland Museum of Art, Saatchi Gallery, London, the Rubell Family Collection, Miami and Sammlung Essl, Klosterneuburg / Vienna. Ruckhäberle lives and works in Leipzig.

After managing LIGA Gallery, the nucleus of the so-called „Young Leipzig School of Painting“, from 2002 to 2004 and curating several projects for galleries and institutions such as the Dresden State Museums, we most recently organised regular salon-like exhibitions in our space on Linienstraße. With our move and the opening of our new gallery space in Friedrichstraße 123, we mark our return to working publicly and will be able to show full comprehensive themed and monographic exhibitions again.

In 2009, we will be showing solo exhibitions by Ruprecht von Kaufmann, Franziska Holstein, Martin Kobe and Stephanie Dost. Furthermore, we are currently developing an exhibition project in collaboration with private and public collections for spring 2009.

For more information and images, please do not hesitate to contact Anne Kathrin Wegener at +49 – (0)30 – 44038385 or via E-Mail at akw@christianehrentraut.com. Please note our new address as of December 15, 2008: Friedrichstraße 123, 10117 Berlin (train stop Oranienburger Tor).
